So what happens when you have free weekend, two stir crazy boys and nice weather? Well you take your 38-week pregnant wife camping for the night! At like 4 in the afternoon we decided to go on a quick camping trip- lets say the first little, while there were a few grumbles from a very pregnant wife, but through it all it was a really fun last getaway with the kids. Amanda also was grateful to have cooler sleeping conditions and a slightly deflated air mattress is actually very comfy to sleep on being very pregnant.. We went really simple with hotdogs for dinner and bagels for breakfast. We found a really neat camping spot next to the river and the kids just loved being outdoors. Lily kept saying there were tigers everywhere though. (She must have an older brother who puts these ideas in her head...). We had yummy marshmallows and s'mores and went on a night walk (something that Brian and Avery did at their father and son campout a month ago) which was very enjoyable.
The next day we also decided to do a little fishing since Avery LOVES to eat fish. However, since we got a late start and it was getting warm, we didn't fish very long and therefore, didn't catch any fish. Plus, Lily ended up tipping her chair over in the reservoir and got soaking wet. She (and mom) were done at that point. Avery could have stayed another month. He was asking to camp in the backyard the next night. That kid would live outside if we let him. Remembering back to when we were pregnant with him, we went camping 2 weeks before he was born too, and look at how much of a camper he is now. Baby #3 is sure to be another camper...
