8 lbs 0 oz, 20.5 inches long

We were scheduled to have a repeat C-section because our last 2 kids were born by C-section.  However, this time it was SCHEDULED and we didn't have to through a whole sleepless night of labor before the surgery.  We had to be at the hospital at 7am and were scheduled to go to surgery at 9am.  However, due to some back-ups in surgery (the lady that was scheduled after us came in early in labor so she got to go first) we didn't actually get into surgery until around 11:30am.

Back in surgery, it didn't take long before our baby was ready to be born.  I (Amanda) was already in tears by this time and then Brian got to announce it to everyone- "Its a boy!" though he was a little choked up as well and didn't come out very loudly.  One of the first things we hear from the doctor was that they had accidently cut his forehead- poor kid!  They also noticed that he had 2 little "hickey" sores on his wrists.  Apparently he had been sucking on his hands a lot in the womb!  They cleaned him up and everything and then Brian got to bring our little baby boy to me.  Even with his little cut, he was perfect!

After getting all stitched up, I got to go back to recovery where Brian and Mason (the name we decided on) got to come as well (my other 2 kids had to wait until I was done with recovery).  After feeding him, they had to take Mason back to the nursery to figure out what to do with the little cut on his forehead.  They decided to give him 4 stiches.  Brian said that he didn't cry at all when they gave him the numbing shot or when they were actually sewing him up.  He only cried when they were washing the wound.

Not soon after we all got back to our room, Avery & Lily came to meet their new baby brother.  Brian's sister Candace watched them over the weekend.  Avery wanted to bring Mason some donuts and a balloon for his "birthday."  (Avery and Lily were pretty excited about those donuts)  It was so fun to see them meet Mason for the first time.   They wanted to hold him right away and were so gentle with him.  Avery wanted to know why Mason couldn't just come home with Daddy while Mommy stayed at the hospital.

We stayed in the hospital for 2 nights and then, on Father's Day, we got to go home.  Lily was really cute in that she was always bringing Mason his binky and Avery wanted to show everything to Mason that he had got.  Avery & Lily were only there for a few hours before they got to go to Idaho to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Turpin for the week- something they were super excited for.

our doctor- Doctor Jirkcko
so far, he has been a very happy baby.  We sure do love him a lot!
